From Ashes
Before the fire my mom hung the moon.
Comforted me.
The fire obliterated childlike fantasies.
No more fairies.
Red and orange colored my nightmares.
An awaking to adult life.
Everything destroy.
Ashes
Rise.
We rebuild.
Perseverance becomes my lesson.
Fire burned as I sang along with Don Henley –
“This is the end of innocence”
Losing our home gave us everything, brought us closer.
After the fire my mom hung the moon.
Showed courage.
Carried the flame that kept our hearts warm.
